Putting your plan into action!
Learn more about bringing the community’s vision to life through rezoning
|
It has been almost a year since City Council adopted the Near Southeast Area Plan and its community-led vision for more housing options, safer streets and addressing climate change in Goldsmith, Indian Creek, University Hills North, Virginia Village and Washington Virginia Vale. Winston Downs is part of Washington Virginia Vale.
Since then, city planners have been working on implementing the plan’s recommendations through a city-sponsored rezoning. The purpose of the project is to put in place the plan’s land use guidance in areas where current rules do not align with the community’s goals, including development that prioritizes pedestrian safety and community-serving businesses, and takes advantage of transit options.
Areas being considered for rezoning:
· Major corridors such as Colorado Boulevard, Leetsdale Drive and East Evans Avenue
· Properties in the plan area still governed by the city’s old zoning code (Former Chapter 59) |

Planners will discuss the areas being targeted for rezoning and how rezoning will update the rules for those properties to bring about the kind of development recommended in the plan. If you can’t make it to the open house, city staff will also be in the community in April and May.
