Stuck at home with the kids, looking for a fun activity? A regular walker seeking something new? Wanting to reach out to your neighbors in a time of social-distancing”?
Join your neighbors in a teddy bear hunt! This uplifting activity is taking place in neighborhoods around the world to combat stir-craziness and encourage neighborhood unity.
Here’s how it works:
- Put your favorite stuffed bear or other creature in your window where people can it;
- Get your safari gear and binoculars out and walk or ride around the neighborhood and see how many bears you can find; and
- Share pictures of your discoveries via the Winston Downs Facebook site
The fun is not limited to younger ones. Anyone can put out their bears and a cheery “Hi” or other message out for people to read.
Neighborhoods all over the world from as far away as Melbourne, Australia are going on bear hunts. Read more in Time Magazine about this craze, and gain inspiration from others. Challenge your children to find as many of the sweet and cozy critters as they can and to remind others we’re not alone.
Happy hunting!
