Wednesday, February 7th at 6pm Community Meeting with Commander Bell (CAB) at the District 3 Station 1625 S. University Blvd. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate! Community Resource Officers are available at 5pm to answer your questions prior to the meeting. Hosted by Commander Bell and our DPD District 3 Law Enforcement Leadership (CAB). Learn about crime stats and trends that affect our local neighborhoods. Coffee With a Cop, Wednesday, February 7th from 10:00 am to noon at Nixon’s Coffee House 695 E Louisiana Ave – First Wednesday of every month.
Tuesday, February 20th from 6 pm to 7 pm Neighborhood Watch Action and Awareness Training – at Montclair Rec Center 729 Ulster Way. DPD’s – District 3 Neighborhood Watch program offers a partnership between officers and the community members they serve. Officers promote neighborhood connectivity by encouraging neighbors to get to know one another, reporting suspicious behavior to the police, and by creating awareness through Implicit Bias education – reminding neighbors – it’s the person’s behavior, not the person to be mindful of when observing and reporting suspicious behavior to the Police. Crime Prevention Messaging to share with neighbors:
- Please remind neighbors to close garage doors.
- Remove personal belongings from your vehicle and lock vehicle doors at school/childcare drop off and pick up.

Officer of the Month Nominations are chosen by review of daily, weekly and monthly District 3 Command staff notes, highlighting significant officer interactions on calls for service. During these reviews, and unsolicited, command staff make note of exceptional police work. At the end of each month command staff decides to select three officer interactions they feel are most worthy of positive recognition. These are the 3 nominations you see each month, being nominated for officer of the month.
Please share with your neighbors and let them know they can vote too! All DPD District 3 community members are encouraged to vote! One vote per household please.

Nomination 1: Officer Branch and Officer Wooley
Ofc. Branch and Ofc. Wooley were dispatched to McDonald’s reference a male that was trying to steal her car with her children still inside the vehicle while she was inside the restaurant. When she interrupted the male he attempted to drive off in reverse and ran over her foot. A nearby security guard assisted the victim with pulling the suspect out of the vehicle. The children were unharmed. The suspect fled the area on foot. The officers were able to locate the suspect near Evans and Jasmine and detained him. A show up was conducted and the suspect was positively identified. The suspect was transported to the city jail for first degree criminal trespass.
Nomination 2: Corporal Dunnam and Officer Gorham
Officer D. Dunnam and Officer N. Gorham responded to an injury accident roll over at 480 S. Holly St. Hit and Run vehicle is a black Dodge Challenger. The hit and run vehicle was left unoccupied at Gringer Pl and Arkansas Ave. Officers cleared the vehicle and learned the vehicle was code 5 in a carjacking from back in November. Witness observed two males enter a house in the area. Officers approached the residence and spoke to the homeowner, who allowed the officers inside. Officers arrested two male suspects. Officers also recovered a Glock handgun inside the bathroom and an AK pistol in the suspect’s backpack. The suspects were charged with the robbery – carjacking and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
Nomination 3: Officer Dokken
Ofc. Dokken was conducting proactive patrols in the area for burglary suppression when he observed a suspicious vehicle driving through the shopping center parking lot. Ofc. Dokken cleared the license plate which returned a stolen motor vehicle hit. Ofc Dokken kept a close eye on the suspect vehicle and requested cover. Once cover arrived, Ofcs. conducted a high-risk stop and detained two occupants without incident. The driver was arrested on charges of motor vehicle theft and the vehicle was impounded.
