DPD’s Street Racing Enforcement Nets Four
Denver – 2025 – The Denver Police Department announces that during two targeted street racing enforcement efforts over the past two weeks, Denver Police officers cited four drivers for speed contest or exhibition of speed. The street racing enforcement operations are regularly scheduled, ongoing efforts by the Denver Police Department to curb street racing.
Street racing is not only dangerous for the involved drivers, but also increases the chances of
harm or death to others who are not involved. Possible penalties the driver faces are jailtime
and court costs, along with having their vehicle impounded.
Therefore, DPD reminds all drivers, in particular parents of young drivers, that if police officers witness drivers in an exhibition of speed, participating in a speed contest, and/or drag racing, their vehicle is subject to impoundment.
The recent incidents include:
1. DPD officers observed the driver of a white Dodge Charger drag racing in the area of East 53rd Avenue and North Jackson Street. Officers stopped the driver, an 18-year-old male, and cited him with Exhibition of Speed.
2. DPD officers observed the drivers of two vehicles drag racing in the area of West Mississippi Avenue and South Platte River Drive. Officers stop one of the drivers, a 21-year-old male, driving a white Mercedes Benz C300. He was cited for Speed Contest, No Proof of Insurance, and Expired License Plates.
3. DPD officers observed the drivers of two vehicles drag racing in the area of West Mississippi Avenue and South Santa Fe Drive. They contacted one of the drivers, a 20-year-old female, driving a blue Ford F-150 Pickup Truck. She was arrested for an unrelated outstanding warrant and issued a citation for Speed Contest.
4. Officers observed the drivers of two vehicles drag racing in the area of North Vasquez Boulevard and East 48th Avenue. Officers were able to stop one of the drivers, later identified as a juvenile male, driving a gray Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. The juvenile was cited for Speed Contest.
In each of the above incidents, officers impounded the drivers’ vehicles in accordance with Denver’s Public Nuisance ordinance.
