SUMMARY:Presentation Near SE Area Plan Includes Winston Downs
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPLACE BRIDGE ACADEMY\, 7125 CHERRY CREEK N. DR FROM 530PM TO 700PM\n\n\n\nA significant development is the comprehensive rezoning of properties previously under outdated zoning codes such as Planned Unit Development (PUD)\, Planned Building Groups (PBG)\, or community corridor (CC). Spearheaded by Community Planning and Development (CPD) and the District 4\, 5\, and 6 council offices\, this modernization effort aligns with the 2010 zoning code\, fostering a more cohesive and inclusive urban environment. \nRemarkably\, Denver is still operated under two zoning codes\, with the old code (Former Chapter 59) dating back to February 11\, 1955. About 20% of Denver’s properties fall under this outdated code\, and CPD is now working to rezone them into a single code within the NSEAP area. This crucial step to reflect what we heard from residents and to fall in line with the 2010 zoning code \nThere is an upcoming community open house for residents to learn more about the rezoning proposal \, and to share their feedback or talk to a planner one-on-one. \nPLEASE NOTE:  Links are slow to load. If you have issues please contact Francisca Penafiel at email:  francisca.penafiel@denvergov.org \nRSVP TO ATTEND \nINFORMATION ABOUT EVENT \nSIGN UP TO TALK TO PLANNERS ONE-ON-ONE

SUMMARY:EARTH DAY
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, April 21\, from 1 – 3 p.m.\, the LUN (Lowry United Neighborhoods) Sustainability Committee is participating in Earth Day with an Earth Day Lowry Community Service Project. We will be collecting items that are non-recyclable by the City and County of Denver from Lowry neighbors and distributing them to appropriate facilities for recycling (where possible) and safe disposal. \nYou can find us at  510 Syracuse Street on Sunday\, April 21\, from 1 – 3 p.m. Look for the LUN sign and table; just pull up on the east side of Syracuse and drop off your items. \nWe will be collecting a variety of materials including: \n\nPlastic film\n(grocery bags\, bread bags\, newspaper sleeves\, plastic shipping envelopes\, bubble wrap\, air pillows\, etc.)\nBatteries\nStyrofoam\nToxic items\n(such as fertilizers\, drain openers\, glue adhesives\, varnishes and waxes\, weed killers etc.; items that should never be placed in the trash or poured down the drain.)\n* Please feel free to drop off six of these kinds of items until our bags fill up*. Batteries in a bag will count as one item. We are offering this collection for Lowry residents who live in condos or apartments and for those who just have a few items they would like to dispose of safely. If you have a large quantity of this kind of material\, you can arrange for a pick-up by the City and County of Denver. To schedule a collection appointment\, call 1-800-HHW-PKUP (1-800-449-7587). Please note that there is a $15 co-payment to make an appointment. Learn more here.\nTowels of all kinds\, for Sally and Melly’s monthly reuse efforts\n\nIn addition to dropping off the above materials\, stop by and ask us about any of your recycling and trash questions you might have. We have good information on all things zero waste. \nAnd if you want to make a full day of it\, join Councilwoman’ Sawyer’s Spring Park Cleanup that morning from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. Sign up here. \nThe official theme for 2024 is “Planet vs. Plastics.” Earth Day 2024 focuses on eliminating plastic usage “for the sake of human and planetary health.” Please join LUN this year by taking action. Simply increasing your awareness about plastics supports our planet. Refuse\, reduce and recycle plastic. To support the elimination of plastic waste\, LUN will be collecting plastic film\, which is not recyclable by the City and County of Denver. Plastic film can be sent to companies like Trex that make outdoor decking material. Learn here what materials Trex accepts. \nThis is a great opportunity for our Lowry neighbors to come out and learn more about reducing waste and get rid of some items that may be cluttering up their garages and basements.

SUMMARY:Notice of Public Hearing to Consider the Naming of the New Unnamed Park at Iliff & Bellaire
DESCRIPTION:City & County of Denver – Department of Parks & Recreation  \nNotice of Public Hearing to Consider the Naming of the New Unnamed Park at Iliff & Bellaire   \nNotice is hereby given that the Department of Parks & Recreation for the City & County of Denver is considering the naming of a new park (referred to currently as Unnamed Park at Iliff and Bellaire)\, bounded by S. Birch St. to the east\, S. Bellaire St. to the west\, E. Iliff Ave. to the south\, and E. Warren Ave. to the north\, as “Bethesda Park” in response to a community effort led by a committee formed after park vision planning completed in 2023. This park name serves to honor the Dutch heritage of the area and reflect the impact that the Bethesda Sanitorium later known as the Bethesda Psychiatric Hospital had on this area among several generations of immigrants. Bethesda is a Hebrew word meaning place (or house) of mercy\, aptly reflecting the values that the community wants to live on in the park.     \nThe Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) will hear public comments on this proposed naming on Wednesday\, January 10\, 2024 at 5:30 pm at the Board’s regular meeting\, currently being held online through Zoom. Access the meeting information at denvergov.org/PRAB (full meeting link listed below). \nTo speak at the public hearing\, email Arthur.gilkison@denvergov.org.   \nA copy of the petitions in support of the naming are on file with the Manager of Denver Parks & Recreation.      \nRegister for the January 10\, 2024 PRAB meeting via Zoom: https://denvergov-org.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_naLQZGRhRx-2kxgVCDnYVQ

SUMMARY:Landlord Requirements & Tenant Rights via Zoom Dec 5
DESCRIPTION:Join ZAP on December 5th!\nJoin the Inter Neighborhood Cooperation (INC) Zoning & Planning Group for our 2nd community forum of 2023!\nWhen: Tuesday\, December 5th\nWhere: Online (Zoom Link)\nTime: 6:30-8pm\nTopic: Landlord Requirements and Tenants Rights\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHappy Fall! \nCome join us at the final ZAP meeting for 2023. It was a short year for the committee though we will be ending with a great meeting! Come learn about Denver’s new landlord license requirement needed for ANY rental in the city\, short or long term\, and about the expanded tenants’ rights in the state. \nLandlord License Requirement– If you own an apartment building\, duplex or even a single-family residence in Denver and rent it out long term (more than 30+ consecutive days)\, you need a residential rental license starting in 2024. You will learn about everything you need to do to prepare all the documents\, how and where to get an inspection\, what the application looks like and what the fees are. Make sure you are compliant before 2024 arrives!  \nShort Term Rental License– Renting out your primary residence on Airbnb or VRBO? A short-term rental is one that is rented for 1 to 29 days and also requires a license in Denver. There have been some updates to the requirements for a short-term rental license\, come learn all about all the changes and what you need to do to be compliant.  \nUpdated Tenant’s Rights– If you are a renter in Denver\, come get informed about all of your rights. Think you don’t have a lot of rights as a renter? Wrong! You have many rights including habitability and a minimum standard of your home. If you have questions about your rights as a tenant in Denver\, we will have a lawyer from Colorado Poverty Law Project to answer any question you have. \n \nCome and join others interested in all things Zoning and Planning going on in and around Denver! As we plan the meetings for 2024\, we would love your input on what you are interested in hearing about in 2024. Come and share your ideas with us at our final meeting of 2023. \nEveryone is welcome! Attendees do not need to be INC delegates. You are welcome to participate even if your neighborhood organization is not a member of INC\, or you are not active in a neighborhood group. Please pass on this invitation to anyone who might be interested in joining the committee.

SUMMARY:World Day of Remembrance 2023
DESCRIPTION:The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims is a global event held every third Sunday of November to honor those who have lost their lives or been impacted by roadway crashes. This year on November 19\, communities across the globe\, including several dozen in the United States\, will gather together to demand actions towards improving roadway safety and to uplift proven strategies\, including redesigning dangerous roads\, reducing speed limits\, and improving vehicle design. \nPlease join The Denver Streets Partnership (DSP) on World Day of Remembrance 2023 for a candlelight vigil and short ceremony to remember those lost on our streets and recommit to Denver’s goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries by the year 2030\, through implementation of the recently updated Vision Zero Action Plan. \nParticipants will meet in front of the Denver City and County Building\, 1437 Bannock St\, at 5 pm\, and walk to Independence Plaza on the 16th Street Mall between Curtis and Arapahoe for the ceremony that will begin at 5:30 pm. \nMore than seventy people have lost their lives in Denver in preventable traffic crashes this year. Since Denver’s commitment to Vision Zero in 2016\, we have lost more than 530 children\, parents\, friends\, spouses\, and neighbors traveling on our streets. \nVision Zero is founded on the principle that traffic deaths are preventable and unacceptable. Preserving human life takes priority over convenience. The vast majority of traffic fatalities involve a motorized vehicle and poor street design. This event aims to bring our community together to honor and remember those we have lost and an opportunity to connect\, heal\, and remember. Join the Denver community for World Day of Remembrance 2023.
