SUMMARY:Discussion: How can Denver avoid becoming the next San Francisco in terms of Homelessness
DESCRIPTION:HOMELESSNESS: How can Denver avoid becoming the next San Francisco?\nMetro Denver’s homeless population has been growing in the last few years\, jumping by 32% in 2023. Tom Wolf\, a nationally renowned recovery advocate who once roamed the streets of San Francisco as a homeless person\, argues that his city’s policies have failed – but that the governments of metro Denver can still avoid those mistakes.\nSo\, what are his solutions? Join The Denver Gazette in a conversation with Mr. Wolf – it’s free to attend. Send in your questions in advance. \nTune in. It’s free to attend. Zoom registration required\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTuesday\, Aug. 15\, 2023 \n8-9 a.m. MST \nZoom Meeting \n\n\n\nRegister for Zoom

SUMMARY:KIDS IN THE CROSSFIRE: A TOWN HALL Exploring Solutions to Youth Violence in Denver
DESCRIPTION:Why have the violent deaths of 12- to 18-year- olds suddenly become “normalized” in metro Denver? Why has gunfire with young people pulling the trigger become so constant that at times it has seemed omnipresent in parts of the city? Join the Denver Gazette and 9News\, as they ask questions and the panel offers answers. The discussion follows a Denver Gazette series about youth violence in metro Denver\, what the community is doing about it and how children are navigating life in the era of school shootings and gang violence. It’s free to attend.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration online – see bottom of page \nThere is also a Zoom registration listed on the link above.

SUMMARY:RTD Feedback Opportunity re Policy Changes
DESCRIPTION:RTD has been planning some major changes to their policies and I don’t want you to miss out on providing your input. First\, I’m jazzed about most of the changes RTD is considering making to their fare and pass structure\, and I think you’ll be\, too. Check out details from RTD\, then use our comment guide to submit a comment (or share your own ideas!) at the bottom of the website or sign up to share your thoughts at one of these virtual or in-person meetings: \n\nVirtual:\n\nMay 3\, 2023 at 6 p.m.\nMay 16\, 2023 at 12 p.m.\n\n\nIn-Person\n\nMay 11\, 2023\, 5–7 p.m.\n\nLocation: The Alliance Center’s Sustainability Center (1536 Wynkoop St)\n\n\nMay 17\, 2023\, 5–7 p.m.\n\nLocation: Carla Madison Rec Center’s Rooftop (2401 E Colfax Ave)\n\n\nSnacks provided\n\n\n\nSecond\, I also want to congratulate you—when you stood up for fairness by asking RTD to get public feedback in revising their Code of Conduct and to eliminate the policies most obviously targeting the unhoused\, they listened! Now it’s time to share your thoughts on the newest revisions so taking transit can remain a truly public service open to all. If you can make it\, attend RTD’s community meeting on Saturday\, April 29 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Chestnut Pavilion at Denver Union Station\, or submit a comment online. \nPlease reply to this email to let me know if you are planning to attend any of the meetings above so I can send you a reminder and keep you informed!
