DESCRIPTION:Ready to work with your neighbors to create a long-term vision for the neighborhoods of the Near Southeast Area? A virtual community kick off will launch the planning process.\nVirtual Community Kickoff\n6 p.m.\, Tuesday\, July 20\, 2021\nZoom link will be provided soon \nAdditional opportunities to learn about the planning process and share your voice\, including an online survey and in-person events\, will also be taking place throughout the rest of the summer.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMembers of the steering committee for the Near Southeast Area Plan were selected from the more than 100 community members who submitted the interest form. The group is intended to be a cross-section of the neighborhoods that make up the planning area\, including residents\, local business owners and property owners. In bringing the group together\, the planning team consulted with City Council Offices for Districts 4\, 5 and 6\, considered the area’s demographics\, and sought out a diversity of interests\, experiences and areas of expertise as well as voices from traditionally under-represented communities. \nSteering committee members will help guide the planning process\, support public engagement efforts and help create consensus at key points in the process. Meetings will be open to the public\, and meeting materials will be available online after the fact. \n\nRead about committee members\nSee steering committee meeting information\n\nABOUT THE NEAR SE PLAN \nThe Near Southeast Planning Area is made up of the neighborhoods of Washington Virginia Vale\, Virginia Village\, Indian Creek\, Goldsmith and the area of University Hills north of Yale Avenue. It includes a variety of housing types\, significant commercial corridors including Colorado Boulevard and Leetsdale Drive\, and amenities like sections of the Cherry Creek Greenway and the Highline Canal. Several major redevelopment projects in the area have highlighted the need to work with the community to update outdated neighborhood plans or provide planning guidance in areas where no neighborhood plan exists. As part of the Neighborhood Planning Initiative\, this project provides an opportunity to create a long-term vision for these neighborhoods that furthers citywide goals and priorities while addressing local neighborhood needs.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n

Denver Police District 3’s Neighborhood Watch program encourages a partnership between Officers and the Residents they serve.  Officers promote Neighborhood Connectivity by encouraging Neighbors to get to know one another\, and teaching residents how to effectively observe and report suspicious behavior.  This program creates awareness through Implicit Bias education – reminding neighbors – it’s the person’s behavior\, not the person to be mindful of when observing and reporting suspicious behavior to the Police. To RSVP for this presentation please email D3NeighborhoodWatch@denvergov.org\n\nThursday\, July 22nd at 6pm virtual Block Communicator Orientation Becoming a Block Communicator or point of contact for your community is simple and takes minimal time.  This presentation is for those who have already participated in Neighborhood Watch Action and Awareness Presentation. This orientation will cover the first steps in becoming the Neighborhood Watch point of contact for your block. We will share ideas on how you can introduce yourself and Neighborhood Watch to your neighbors and ideas to communicate Neighborhood Watch information with your neighbors.  Learn how to research crime stats in your area\, search for sex offenders in your neighborhood\, and request traffic monitoring/enforcement.  To RSVP for this presentation please email D3NeighborhoodWatch@denvergov.org
