DESCRIPTION:City & County of Denver – Department of Parks & Recreation  \nNotice of Public Hearing to Consider the Naming of the New Unnamed Park at Iliff & Bellaire   \nNotice is hereby given that the Department of Parks & Recreation for the City & County of Denver is considering the naming of a new park (referred to currently as Unnamed Park at Iliff and Bellaire)\, bounded by S. Birch St. to the east\, S. Bellaire St. to the west\, E. Iliff Ave. to the south\, and E. Warren Ave. to the north\, as “Bethesda Park” in response to a community effort led by a committee formed after park vision planning completed in 2023. This park name serves to honor the Dutch heritage of the area and reflect the impact that the Bethesda Sanitorium later known as the Bethesda Psychiatric Hospital had on this area among several generations of immigrants. Bethesda is a Hebrew word meaning place (or house) of mercy\, aptly reflecting the values that the community wants to live on in the park.     \nThe Parks and Recreation Advisory Board (PRAB) will hear public comments on this proposed naming on Wednesday\, January 10\, 2024 at 5:30 pm at the Board’s regular meeting\, currently being held online through Zoom. DESCRIPTION:Councilmember Sawyer will be hosting ‘D5 Projects Night’ on January 30th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at George Washington High School located at 655 S Monaco St Pkwy\, Denver\, CO 80224. Free parking onsite. HC access available as well. \nOur office is inviting City agencies and community partners to be in one room in an open house format with information about projects specific to Council District 5. \nThe agencies and community partners that will be in attendance are: Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR)\, Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI)\, Community Planning and Development (CPD)\, Denver Public Library\, Transportation Solutions\, RTD\, Denver Public Schools\, Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG)\, DPD2 and DPD3\, Denver Fire\, Denver Water\, Xcel\, the Mayor’s Office\, Denver Economic Development & Opportunity (DEDO)\, Department of Public Health and Environment (DPHE)\, Excise and Licenses (EXL)\, and the Clerk and Recorder’s office. \nThis event will be an open house format\, so that residents can walk from table to table to speak to whichever agency (or agencies!) they have questions for or requests of. Each agency and community partner will have a table and staff members there\, so there won’t be any formal presentations\, just an open format for residents to have one-on-one conversations with these agencies and community partners.
