Travel Advisory From DOTI
Full Closure of Broadway near I-25 this Friday night into Saturday
DENVER – Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) would like the public to be aware of an improvement project that will impact travel this weekend and is advising alternate routes.
This Friday, December 15, at 7 p.m. until Saturday, December 16 at noon, work on a travel and safety improvement project in the area of Broadway and Interstate-25 will require crews to fully close both northbound and southbound Broadway between Exposition and Mississippi avenues. An official, signed detour route will guide travelers around the Broadway closure via Alameda Avenue, University Boulevard and Louisiana Avenue. While this stretch of Broadway is closed, drivers should take alternate routes to I-25 that could include Alameda Avenue, Mississippi Avenue, Santa Fe Dr/Kalamath St and University Boulevard.
The work will also require closure of the southbound I-25 ramp to Broadway.
These closures are needed for crews to set girders for a new bridge over Broadway that will eventually serve as a new on-ramp to I-25 southbound. This work is part of a larger project to improve travel and safety for all, including those who walk/roll, bike, drive and take transit. The improvements include:
- Replacing the existing, at-grade southbound on-ramp to I-25 from Broadway with an elevated ramp
- Building a new stretch of Bannock St south of Exposition, creating a new entrance to the RTD Park-n-Ride from the north side
- Reconstructing local streets including Lincoln, Broadway, Kentucky and Ohio to improve traffic flow, while maintaining the south side entrance to the RTD Park-n-Ride at Kentucky Ave
- Extending the bikeway currently being constructed on Broadway to complete access to the station by bike, and expand multi-use pathways along Lincoln, Broadway, Kentucky and Ohio for walking and biking
