Help Us Make a Difference: Donation Drive for Families Experiencing Homelessness

Posted on November 2, 2024 by Jane

Good Evening,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Ricardo Rangel, and I serve as the Community Engagement Specialist for the Office of Children’s Affairs (OCA)/Tasty Food.

I am writing to inform you about an important initiative led by the Tasty Food team: a donation drive to support unhoused families at local family shelters. These shelters currently accommodate approximately 250 children, including 147 infants under the age of five, but they lack consistent access to essential items such as formula and baby food. As a result, families often face significant challenges, including long travel distances and extended wait times for formula, which is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Our goal is to secure a three-month supply of baby formula, food, and other critical supplies for infants aged 0-11 months through this drive. To facilitate safe and efficient contributions, we will be utilizing an Amazon Wishlist (https://a.co/73TIA7X). The donation drive will run from today, October 31, through Monday, December 16. This donation drive is part of a bigger collaboration with the Give5 Mile High volunteer initiative led by First Lady of Denver Courtney Johnston.

We kindly request your assistance in spreading the word about this campaign. Please share this initiative with your colleagues, friends, and families through your communication channels. Attached to this email, you will find flyers, social media graphics, and a toolkit containing ready-to-use blurbs for social media and newsletters.

Your support can significantly impact the lives of these vulnerable families, and we greatly appreciate any help you can provide in amplifying this message. Should you have any questions or require additional materials, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a meaningful difference.

With Gratitude,
Ricardo Rangel
