LIGHTS ON for a safer neighborhood!
NEWS FROM WDCA BOARD
- WDCA engaged a service to cut and spray weeds at curbs along Quebec from Alameda up to where apartments begin; on Monaco from Alameda to Leetsdale and various interior entrance streets: E. Exposition, Dakota and Olive.
- Denver Green School offers a food bank giveaway on Saturday mornings. Cars should not be blocking driveways or cross streets. If you experience this, please notify the non-emergency police number (720.913.2000)
- WDCA has invited the school leaders to meet with board and residents. We will advise when they are available to discuss traffic, farm operations, resident safety.
- Former Watson’s property (365 S Quebec)- Board has asked the city to verify that containers and multiple parked vehicles is legal at this location. We are awaiting that information.
- Some may know that 333 S Oneida Way, a residential property, has been leased to a newly formed synagogue group. The property has undergone a general front yard cleanup and inside cleanup. Because this is zoned single family residential, permits are required to change the use of the property. To date, no permits have been filed with the City. WDCA is following this change.
COLORADO LEAF DROP
LeafDrop 2021 — Drop off Leaves Through December 3
Denver recently kicked off its annual, free LeafDrop program that allows residents to sustainably donate their autumn leaves to be composted rather than end up in a landfill. Organic materials such as leaves, branches, grass clippings, and food scraps make up nearly 50% of what Denver residents send to the landfill each year.
Find Leafdrop sites near you and download a coupon to receive a free five-pack of paper leaf bags at participating Ace Hardware Stores at denvergov.org/leafdrop. Unlike some other cities, Denver does not pick up leaf bags at the curb/alley, so please don’t leave LeafDrop bags with your trash and recycling. The bags are only to help with transport to a drop-off location.
