Safety Chair, Mickey Greenberg provided this recap of DPD meeting November 1 that he attended as our representative from Winston Downs.
- Carlos Aragon was officially installed as Commander of District 3 yesterday
- Lt Ryan Harris is the new head of Sector 2, that’s us, replacing Lt Curtis. His contact info is ryan.harris@denvergov.org and 720-913-1162
- The December CAB meeting is being replaced by a meeting on Nov 30th at the Wings Over the Rockies from 6:00 to 7:00 pm dubbed a CSB, Crime Strategy Briefing.
- The guest speakers Nov 1 were three city prosecuting attorneys from the NPT, Neighborhood Protection Team. They are a proactive team that goes out into the community in response to city violations to investigate what legal actions need to be taken. Great for HOA’s, noisy neighbors and things like that. They are also part of the interdivisional team addressing homeless encampments. Chris Gaddis is the leader and his associate Assistant City Attorneys are Gineve Hatter and Su Cho. Contact info is npt@denvergov.org and 720-913-8050.
- While the crime statistics are up over the three year average, they are reporting some improvement in recent months. They will talk more on their strategies at the Nov 30th meeting. Public crimes reports include better enforcement, notably drug busts. The main problems are auto theft and theft from motor vehicles as well as burglaries, especially of businesses. These are opportunistic crimes. Lock your vehicles – get a club to lock steering wheels if parking outside. Amazon sells them online. Auto Zone carries them.
- The new city budget calls for hiring 180+ more police officers
