Welcome to Fall!
Fall seems to finally be a “real thing” for Denver! Cooler temps and leaves turning here and there.
- Please remember as it gets dark earlier to keep porch lights on to help those walking and to deter crime.
- Winston Downs Community Association will resume Board meetings on Tuesday, October 19 at 7:00PM at BMH-BJ Synagogue.
- WDCA will be initiating a Quebec St. cleanup sometime in October! We’ll work to remove trash along Quebec before winter comes. We’ll send the invitation to participate soon.
- Thank you to Denver Parks for removing the wreckage debris at the Alameda/Olive St bus stop.
- Thank you to all dog owners for picking up after your doggies!
- Denver Green School Community Farm Stand:
Wednesdays from 3.30-5.30pm, August 11th to October 27th
corner of the DGS parking lot at 6700 E. Virginia Ave. Denver 80224
Target review times for residential projects are changing
- In an effort to streamline residential permit reviews and provide a greater level of predictability for customers, City Planning & Development (CPD) will change due dates for some residential projects.
- Most projects including detached garages will have a target due date of 12 business days for initial review and 12 business days for resubmittal reviews–effective for initial submittals made after October 6.
- There is no charge to the two-day review date for smaller projects such as fences, retaining walls, landscaping, sheds, interior remodels without major structural work, decks and patios
Crime Prevention
Thursday, September 30 at 6PM – Virtual Crime Prevention Strategies From The Outside In is new, interactive presentation taught by our Community Resource Officers to help you and your neighbors strategize on how to best prevent crimes of opportunity and build a safer area immediately surrounding your home. This is the first time a virtual presentation of this kind has been taught to our Neighborhood Watch Communities. Though similar to our in-person “Walk a Block” meetings with our Community Resource Officers, this event is virtual. This program is intended to compliment and add to our robust Neighborhood Watch Action and Awareness Training and will discuss ideas about fencing, lighting, landscaping and more! While the content of this presentation is vast, it’s been condensed into a 1-hour presentation. To register for Crime Prevention Strategies From The Outside In, please RSVP to D3NeighborhoodWatch@denvergov.org. Once registered you will receive the link to connect to this live, interactive presentation. CLICK HERE to access calendar item and sign in.
** In-Person Neighborhood Watch Action and Awareness Training at Denver Police District 3 Station on Tuesday, October 19th at 6pm – 1625 S. University Blvd Denver Police District 3’s Neighborhood Watch program encourages a partnership between Officers and the Residents they serve. Officers promote Neighborhood Connectivity by encouraging Neighbors to get to know one another, and teaching residents how to effectively observe and report suspicious behavior. This program creates awareness through Implicit Bias education – reminding neighbors – it’s the person’s behavior, not the person to be mindful of when observing and reporting suspicious behavior to the Police. To RSVP for this presentation please email D3NeighborhoodWatch@denvergov.org
Stay safe!
