The radar speed sign was installed on westbound E Exposition on the utility pole east of 6575. It will be there for a couple weeks until the batteries run out collecting data on vehicle speeds which we can use as ammunition for some kind of speed control or enforcement.
You may have noticed that a DOTI contractor has replaced most of the traffic signs in the neighborhood. Reasons for replacements:
- The old signs were not reflective.
- The old green poles were considered unsafe because if hit they would bend. The new poles are square with holes all around and if hit, they break off.
Also, there are 20 mph signs installed, but notably the one as you approach Monaco is a new school zone sign that says 25 mph.
Speed alerts signs are still going on Alameda westbound just before Quebec.
