We know you have been anxiously awaiting news about the reopening of our sorely missed library branch. We have, too, and we finally have some news to share with you, courtesy of Councilwoman Amanda Sawyer.
The good news: The building has been expanded, and everything inside has been renovated and updated. There are new study rooms, a new coworking space, and new restrooms, and everything has been redesigned or refinished. There’s also a new roof, new window coverings, and exterior treatments like landscaping, sidewalks, and lighting are being improved. There’s also been additional bond money recently allocated for HVAC replacement!
The less-good news: Since the funds for the HVAC system’s replacement and improvement were only recently added to the project, the library will remain closed for a little while longer. The HVAC work is currently in the design phase, and the new estimated reopening date for Schlessman is the first quarter of 2027. We look forward to an expanded and much-improved Schlessman Library in early 2027!
